While camping with a dog is very popular in Colorado, it is quite rare to camp with a cat
Last summer our kitty Oliver was sick and we couldn't leave him even for a few days. Instead of staying home all summer, we decided to bring him along on our camping trips. He loved it!
While camping is not for every cat or every camping trip, our car camping weekend in Peru Creek in Keystone, Colorado was an excellent way to introduce him to sleeping in a tent and allow him to wander around the campsite as he wished.
We took another trip to Camp Hale near Minturn, Colorado and he stayed with us in our Sylvan Sport camper. Once he settled in the sleeping bags and blankets it took some coaxing to get him to wander with us. He had a great time drinking from the streams and wandering the roads and fields
to his hearts delight. We spent these memorable trips hanging around our campsite with Oliver instead of hiking or biking, but it was just as exciting to wander with him and see how much he enjoyed his adventures.
We took a small litterbox, his food, water dish, meds, and harness and leash. He got a little cold at night, but would then cuddle up in our sleeping bags and blankets with us.
